The new ski season has started. Is your kit ready?

The new ski season has started
Hi all,
It's official: the 2026/27 ski season has begun. Austria's Pitztal Glacier opened its first runs on 26 September, alongside Val Senales and Passo Stelvio in Italy. It hasn't been easy, though. After one of the hottest summers on record in the Alps, Sölden and Kaunertal had to delay their openings, and the early-season pistes that are open are firm, narrow and icy in places.
There's plenty to look forward to. France has just been named the world's busiest ski nation for the first time in over a decade, with 56 million skier visits last winter. Getting there is also easier than ever. The Eurostar Snow train is back, a new sleeper runs from Brussels to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, and Jet2 now flies from Stansted to Innsbruck. If Chamonix is on your list, the long-awaited new Grands Montets gondola above Argentière opens in December, the first time it has run since the 2018 fire.
Researchers have also launched a new interactive map showing the future of Europe's glaciers. It's a reminder of how much conditions are changing, and why picking snow-sure resorts and turning up with well-prepared kit matters more every year.
Whether you're off in December or saving it for February, now is the best time to book your service before the pre-Christmas rush. We'll get your skis or board waxed, edged and piste ready, so you can make the most of every run.
See you on the slopes,
Joe Gotts
