Our friends at Holmlands events have been hosting the UK premier screenings of Matchstick Production ski movies each year since 2014. This year is no exception as they host the UK premier of 'Anywhere from here' at the luxurious Mayfair Hotel in their private cinema room. Here's a view of the trailer for the event.
I've been to these screenings for the past 6 years and had a great time at each one of them. Here's some of my thoughts on what the experience:
What are the movies like?
Macthstick Productions have been producing ski movies for 30 years and have put their name to some of the best skis of all time. Their back catalogue boasts classics like "Claim" , "McConkey" and more recently "Drop everything". The films are more than just 90 mins of rock music and guys jumping off cliffs. They typically follow a storyline which is funny and inspiring as they follow some of the worlds best male and female skiers.
What to expect on the night?
The event is more than just a screening of the ski movie, although that is what we're really there for. At previous events there have been interviews with top British skiers and snowboarders and other British based ski charities like DSUK who the organisers have a relationship with. There is also a raffle at the mid film interval which always has great prizes up for grabs including ski wear from top brands, custom boot fittings (circa £900), ski holidays and even heli skiing experiences!
